Areas Covered by HSH's Retail Mortgage Survey

HSH Associates, Financial Publishers, is the nation's largest publisher of mortgage information. Since 1979, we've conducted an objective, thorough, editorial survey of mortgage originators around the USA. Quite simply, we have the nation's largest database of residential mortgage information -- larger than that of any other private company, and larger than that of any government agency.

Our local surveys are best used with our Homebuyer's Mortgage Kit.

Check the lists below to see when we survey an area. Each week, we collect current data from many hundreds of mortgage lenders nationwide. And once per month, we expand our coverage into almost all states. You can use it to shop for a mortgage -- click here to learn more.

Please note: Even if your specific area isn't shown, you should know that most lenders in our surveys lend throughout the entire state or will have local offices in your area, even if we're not directly contacting them. You can still utilize the report as a way to compare the offerings you find in your local market, too.

More information: We market historic rates on specific lenders for specific timeframes; pure statistics derived from our data; home equity, auto loan; and other types of consumer loan data. Don't hesitate to ask us about data you need.

Weekly Coverage
Other areas covered monthly

These reports typically list between 12 and 70 lenders, depending upon the area. Most loan amounts are conforming; some jumbo loans are included. Jumbos are reported separately in some states where noted. Lenders typically list between three and six loans altogether; some may list a couple/few more.

These reports are available via e-mail as text (ASCII),  PDF or Excel spreadsheet for just $10 (plus $1 s/h). For spreadsheets, your mailer must accept binary files as an attachment. Most do.

Monthly Coverage

These areas are surveyed monthly, generally the second week of each month (this many vary; call if you need an exact date). These reports list between 10 and 25 lenders, depending upon the area. Both conforming and jumbo loans are listed, though most loans will probably be conforming. Pricing and delivery is the same as noted above.

NOTES:

• "Metro" is roughly defined as a 30+ mile radius of the named area. Areas covered are subject to change. Any areas can be surveyed by request.
• Terms listed are for single-family owner-occupied mortgages.
• In most cases, lenders are physically located in the areas listed, but most offer loans throughout the entire state at the same rates and terms.
• Conforming loans have loan sizes at, or below, the current FNMA/FHLMC limit for a one-family home. Jumbos are mortgages over the current FNMA/FHLMC limit. Follow this link for the limits for "conforming" loans.
