Mortgage rates increased again during the week ending September 16, according to the latest Mortgage Rates Radar from HSH.com. The average rate for conforming 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose by 0.06% to 4.25%. This is the highest the conforming 30-year fixed-rate mortgage has been since mid-May. Conforming 5/1 Hybrid ARM rates increased by 0.07%, closing the Wednesday-to-Tuesday wraparound weekly survey at 3.24%, the highest the 5/1 rate has been since January 2014. The increase in the 30-year rate would only boost the monthly payment on a $200,000 mortgage by about $7.

The average rate for conforming 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose by six basis points (0.06 percent) to 4.25 percent.
