Conforming 30-year fixed-rate mortgages increased during the week ending September 12 by the largest amount since the spring. The overall average rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose by 0.06% to 4.23%, the highest point in a month. The overall average rate for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages did the same thing, increasing by 0.05% to an average rate of 3.48%, the highest figure since mid-May. FHA-backed 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose by just 0.01% to 3.92%. The overall 5/1 Hybrid ARM rose by 0.06% to 3.18% for the week.
